Atta Sexden - Band
Atta Sexden in the 90s (1994-1999) was wild, brooding, holed up in his bunker-studio, emerging only for a few concerts across the country (Le Chabada – Angers, La Laiterie – Strasbourg, La Cave à Musique – Mâcon, etc.), sometimes crossing paths with fellow artists Spina, Das Ich, Y Front, LTNo, or Marc M. The album Captive (1997 – Media 7) encapsulated all these tensions: a suitably heavy atmosphere, weighed down by an extremely distorted voice. Samplers spat out post-industrial sounds that Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson would undoubtedly have appreciated.
A quarter of a century later, the duo went solo. The dark passions have partly subsided; the melancholic melodies now find their way and unfold in cinematic flights, flirting with electro-goth without ever abandoning the guitars. These intertwine with voices from diverse backgrounds, sometimes still tormented but more often serene.
Did you say redemption ?
